SAUK WOMEN’S TENNIS EARNS BID TO NATIONALS

The Sauk Valley Community College Women’s Tennis team closed out the fall campaign by finishing in 3rd place at the NJCAA Region IV Women’s Tennis Championships on Saturday, held at Moraine Valley Community College. The top three teams qualified for the National Championships to be held in May. The Skyhawks scored 11.5 points and finished behind champions McHenry Community College with 19.5 points and Moraine Valley Community College with 12 points. Sophomore Adela Bajramoska also earned distinction by being awarded the Sportsmanship Award. Bajramoska is the fourth Skyhawk in a row to receive this honor for Region IV.

In #1 singles, Maddy Jacobs finished in third place. Sonia Chino finished second in the #2 singles match, while Chloe Klein battled to third place in the #3 singles position. Adela Bajramoska played at #4 and also finished in the fourth spot, while Alyssa Marquez brought up third place while playing in the #6 singles role. Maddy Jacobs and Sonia Chino teamed up in the #1 doubles bracket and earned the runner up finish, while Chloe Klein and Adela Bajramoska represented the Skyhawks in the #2 doubles slot and also finished in second place.

The tennis team joins the men’s Golf team as National qualifiers, making Sauk two-for-two in advancing from Regional play. Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Volleyball are the only fall sports left for the Skyhawks and those teams will compete at the Regional level at the end of October and the beginning of November.
